Travel Insurance for a Family Trip to Morocco
Why every family should have travel insurance for Morocco, what it should cover for children, activities like camel rides or quads, and cancellation.
- Travel insurance with medical cover is essential for every family member, including babies.
- Choose a policy with medical treatment, repatriation, cancellation and lost luggage.
- Check that the activities you plan (camel rides, trekking, quad biking, balloon flights) are covered.
- Keep the 24-hour helpline number and a copy of the policy on your phone.
Why insurance is essential
Nobody plans for a broken arm or a high fever on holiday, but with children small accidents happen. In Morocco, private clinics ask for payment before treatment, and a medical flight home can cost a lot. Good travel insurance means you can make decisions for your child's health without thinking about money.
What a family policy should include
- Medical treatment abroad, with a high limit
- Medical repatriation (transport home if needed)
- Trip cancellation and cutting a trip short, for example if a child is ill before departure
- Lost, delayed or stolen luggage
- Personal liability
- A 24-hour emergency helpline
Make sure every family member is named on the policy, including babies.
Activities and adventure
Many standard policies exclude some activities. Before you travel, check that the policy covers what you plan to do:
- Camel rides and desert nights
- Hiking and trekking, and the maximum altitude covered (Toubkal is above 4,000 m)
- Quad biking and buggies
- Hot-air balloon flights
- Surfing and water sports on the coast
Existing conditions
If a child (or a parent) has a medical condition such as asthma, diabetes or a severe allergy, declare it to the insurer. Undeclared conditions are one of the most common reasons claims are refused.
Before and during the trip
Save the policy number and the 24-hour helpline in your phone and on paper. If anything happens, call the helpline as early as possible: many insurers can arrange direct payment to a clinic. Keep all receipts, medical reports and police reports.
Tip: Take a photo of each receipt as soon as you get it. Paper receipts get lost; photos do not.
What about the costs of changes?
If a child is ill and you need to change the plan, tell us at once. We do our best to move nights and activities, and we explain any costs from hotels or camps clearly so you can claim them from your insurer.
